Dr. Neelopal Adri has specialization in conducting research in the areas of social dimension of climate change, disaster management, migration, gender and urbanization. Dr. Adri holds a PhD in Human Geography from Royal Holloway, University of London, UK, for her dissertation "Climate-induced Rural-Urban Migration in Bangladesh: Experience of Migrants in Dhaka City", a Master's in Urban and Regional Planning from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and a Bachelor degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. She has been awarded a number of national and international awards for conducting research such as IIED grant (2014), London University grant (2013), IFS grant (2012), and CDKN grant (2012). She has experience of working with donors and a number of national and international development organizations such as the World Bank, International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCAD), International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Centre for Global Change (CGC), etc. She started her research career at CGC as a Research Associate and became the team member of an important study conducted by the Government of Bangladesh, namely 'the Gender Dimension of Climate Change"- the first-ever study on such issue in the country. Dr. Adri has also initiated the 'Climate Change and Urbanization' Program at ICCCAD in 2014 and is currently working as an advisor of the institution. She has published her research in reputed national and international journals including Climate and Development and International Journal of Environment (IJE). Dr. Adri has also contributed to chapters in edited anthologies published in Bangladesh and abroad. Currently, she is working as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) - a premier autonomous research institute in Bangladesh.
