Evaluation of relative importance of different products in the transmission of the impacts of euro zone crisis into Bangladesh economy


The external sector has been playing a prominent role in Bangladesh since the beginning

of the meaningful trade liberalization in early 1990s. Total exports of the country as a share of its GDP increased from 6.35 percent in FY1992 to 27.6 percent in FY2012. Recent escalation of GDP growth of the country to 6 plus percent is accredited to the growth of export and remittances (WB 2012). Bangladesh has been identified as one of the next.
