The presentation provides a description of the historical growth path of Bangladesh economy since early 1990s with special emphasis on the recent development. The variations of economic growth of the country are evaluated through the lenses of internal and external shocks. Related to this, the macroeconomic management of Bangladesh economy to foster and sustain economic growth is also discussed. The structural problems that restrict the standard role of fiscal and monetary policies as described in text book in case of Bangladesh are described. The presentation was concluded by emphasizing the importance of economic good governance and institutional reforms particularly in the financial sector of the country.
