BIDS Research Almanac, 2016
BIDS Research Almanac, 2016 was held on 7th and 8th December in Dhaka. This annual research dissemination program was organized with a view to discussing the recent research findings of BIDS Researchers. In the whole span of the two-day event, 11 papers and five posters were presented in five technical sessions i.e. Labour Employment and Skills, Renewable and Non-Renewable Energy, Agriculture, Business Environment and Exports and Social Development. The event was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Planning Minister Mr. A H M Mustafa Kamal, FCA, MP and prominent personnel from various socio-economic scopes were present in the event. The closing session, “Bangladesh and the World: Changing Dynamics” was focused mainly on dramatic changes in the global economy and was chaired by Dr. K A S Murshid, Director General of BIDS. Dr. Gowher Rizvi, Hon’ble Adviser to the Prime Minister, International Relations Affairs was the Chief Guest in this session along with Dr. Shamsul Alam (Member, General Economic Division, Planning Commission) as the Session Chair and Dr. Zahid Hussain (Lead Economist, World Bank), Dr. Debapriya Bhattacharya (Distinguished Fellow, Centre for Policy Dialogue) and Prof. S R Osmani (Department of Economics, University of Ulster) as the Distinguished Panelists.
