Seminar on "Non-Financial Incentives, Selectivity and Performance of Volunteers: Evidence from a Large Scale Natural Field Experiment" by Dr. Asadul Islam, Associate Professor, Department of Economics
Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) organized a seminar titled “Non-Financial Incentives, Selectivity and Performance of Volunteers: Evidence from a Large Scale Natural Field Experiment” on 13 August, 2018, Monday at BIDS Seminar Room. The paper was presented by Dr. Asadul Islam, Associate Professor, Department of Economics, Monash University, Australia. The study embeds a large-scale randomized controlled experiment within an existing volunteer tutor program of the non-government organization BRAC in Bangladesh to examine the effects of non-financial incentives on volunteers' retention rates and performance. The study also suggests that the attrition rates among volunteers are high when they are offered a performance-contingent public-recognition certificate instead of a participation-based certificate.
The seminar was attended by BIDS researchers and academics. Dr. K.A.S Murshid, DG, BIDS chaired the seminar.
