Dr. Badrun
Nessa Ahmed obtained a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Leibniz University
of Hannover (LUH), Germany in 2019. She was awarded distinction
for her dissertation on 'The Economics of Aquaculture Production and Consumption
Emphasizing the Nutritional Benefit of the Poor in Bangladesh'. Before that, she
completed her MA in Development Economics in 2013 from Erasmus University, Rotterdam, Netherlands with
specialization in Econometric Analysis of Development Policies. Her Master's thesis
on 'Poor but Happy? Understanding Happiness in Bangladesh' was awarded
Professor Hans Opschoor Best Research Paper Award in 2013 (worth euro 500). Dr. Badrun also holds a
B.S.S and an M.S.S in Economics in 2007 and 2008 from the University of
Dhaka.
Dr. Badrun worked
as a graduate instructor at the LUH from
2015-2019. She joined at BIDS as a Research Associate in March 2010. Prior to
joining BIDS, she worked as a Research Associate at the Institute of
Microfinance (InM).
Dr. Badrun is trained in agricultural economics and applied econometrics. Her aim
is to become a pioneer in the field of economic research and development by
utilizing the present endowment through rigorous academic studies and research
exploration. Her primary research interests include development economics,
macroeconomic policy issues, health and population economics, theoretical and
applied econometrics and international trade especially trade policies and
regional cooperation.
